Royals Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
The Royals' offseason makeover began at the top, as they acquired a leadoff hitter in a Nov. 19 trade.
Outfielder Coco Crisp arrived from the Red Sox in a deal that sent right-handed reliever Ramon Ramirez to Boston.
Crisp was a fourth defender this year, but he figures to play center field and lead off for Kansas City. He has stolen 20-plus bases in four of the past five seasons, and he is a fine defender.
"The speed aspect of it was very important," Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. "I've talked many times about the importance of a balanced lineup, speed at the top and the bottom, and Coco certainly gives us that."
Crisp hit .283 with seven homers and 41 RBIs in 361 at-bats in 2008.

Wacky Series highlights baseball's audience issue (AP)This year's World Series will be remembered for a rain delay that caused a game to end close to 2 a.m., a quagmire that led to a suspended game and a three-inning sprint to the finish.
