Rockets F Artest out with injured ankle (AP)Houston Rockets forward Ron Artest missed his second straight game with a sore right ankle, sitting out Tuesday night against the Philadelphia 76ers. This is how far the Rockets had fallen.
They lost, their fifth defeat in seven games, and they felt kind of good about it.
They were disappointed at the same time, having given up a game-winning shot to Atlanta with 1.5 seconds remaining, a particularly galling misstep when they had a foul to give and let Joe Johnson roam around the lane before finding a wide-open Mike Bibby.
The Rockets, however, had embarrassed themselves twice in the previous three games, losing badly to the Wizards and horribly to the Raptors. They didn't feel too good about the win, getting away with a listless second half to hold off the Bucks. McGrady, Artest held out vs. Hawks (AP)Tracy McGrady missed Houston's game against Atlanta on Saturday night because of a chronically sore left knee, and sixth-man Ron Artest was sidelined by a swollen right ankle. Charles Barkley arrested on suspicion of DUI (AP)

Charles Barkley was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol early Wednesday. An officer with a task force that targets drunken driving saw the former NBA star run a stop sign about 1:30 a.m., Gilbert police Lt. Eric Shuhandler said. Barkley was in Scottsdale's Old Town area, a trendy spot in the Phoenix area.

The Houston Rockets re-signed 42-year-old center Dikembe Mutombo for the remainder of the season on Tuesday, adding an emotional leader and a backup to Yao Ming. Mutombo, who supplants 39-year-old Sam Cassell as the league's oldest active player, appeared in 39 games for Houston last season, logging most of his minutes after Yao broke his left foot in February.
