  • Jets Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

Brett Favre doesn't really want to think about what happens after this season is over. But he doesn't have much of a choice, because everyone keeps asking the Jets quarterback about it.

"I haven't even thought about it," Favre said Wednesday when the possibility of playing for the Jets in 2009 was brought up. "I played last week (at New England) like I expect to play. I played at a high level, but that's what they brought me in here to do. I expect to play like that every week, and hope to. I have people, friends, family, who ask me all the time about next year. The answer I give them, which is the honest answer, is I really don't know. I really don't know and to be totally honest with you, I really don't care.

  • Jets' Jenkins fighting off nerves and blockers (AP)

This Oct. 12, 2008 file photo shows New York Jets defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, his gloves on his facemask, as he comes out for pregame warmups before an NFL football game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. After being labeled a malcontent in his last seasons with Carolina, Jenkins is doing all he can to say the right things these days. He's certainly doing all the right things on the field for the Jets.

Kris Jenkins feels the twinge in his stomach whenever the cameras and reporters descend upon his locker. It's not that he's shy or dislikes talking. The New York Jets' mammoth nose tackle is just used to everyone else getting all the attention. "It's been fun and it's been a little scary at the same time," Jenkins said Thursday.

  • NFL Briefs (AP) The Seahawks placed Patrick Kerney on injured reserve Wednesday, ending the season for Seattle's top pass rusher. Kerney had shoulder surgery earlier this month. He injured it in a win at San Francisco on Oct. 26. It's the same left shoulder on which Kerney had surgery last offseason to repair cartilage damage.
  • Next season not even a thought for Jets' Favre (AP)Brett Favre is having too much fun leading the first-place New York Jets to even think about next season. "I don't see how anyone, aside from you guys, can focus on next year when what we're trying to do right now is win and do something this year," Favre told reporters Wednesday. "I'm 39 years old. I know the better days are behind me, for the most part.
  • Steelers try to cover spread this week (AP) The fans who bet on the Pittsburgh Steelers last week were done a disservice by the zebras, although the NFL's apology for the bad call never mentioned that it kept the Steelers from covering the spread. The spread is bigger for Thursday night's game at Heinz Field, but the opponent is easier: the Cincinnati Bengals, who managed to play Philadelphia to the first tie the NFL has had in six...

  • Romo back, are Cowboys well? (AP) The party line in Dallas has been that once Tony Romo comes back, everything will be OK. Romo will be back Sunday night when the Cowboys go to Washington. • Feely's field goal in OT gives Jets 34-31 win (AP)

New York Jets quarterback Brett Favre celebrates after a fourth quarter touchdown during the Jets 34-31 overtime win over the New England Patriots in an NFL football game in Foxborough, Mass. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008.

Brett Favre and the New York Jets stand alone atop the tight AFC East standings -- barely. Jay Feely kicked a 34-yard field goal on the only series of overtime after New England tied the game on Matt Cassel's pass to Randy Moss with one second left in regulation and the Jets survived a Tom Brady-like comeback with a 34-31 victory Thursday night.

Thirty years after fate cast him as the central figure in one of football's most celebrated plays, Edwards knows he'll always...

  • NTs Jenkins, Wilfork play big roles for Jets, Pats (AP)

New England Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel smiles as he prepares to answer a reporter's question during a media availability at the team's football facility in Foxborough, Mass., Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008. The Patriots will play AFC East divisional rivals the New York Jets in a football game Thursday night in Foxborough.

They are 675 pounds of men in the middle, two massive human detour signs that force running backs in another direction. Nose tackles Kris Jenkins of the New York Jets and Vince Wilfork of the New England Patriots are there to make sure much smaller players get stopped soon after they take a handoff. Two huge men -- the relatively svelte Wilfork is about 25 pounds lighter -- with a big job.

  • Jets' Law rusty, but hopes to play vs. Pats (AP)

In this Aug. 9, 2005 file photo, New York Jets cornerback Ty Law runs with the ball during football camp at the Jets training facility in Hempstead, N.Y. Law, 34, signed with the Jets on Tuesday and practiced with the team after sitting out nearly 11 months as a free agent. The Jets only had a walkthrough Wednesday, so Law is trying to get up to speed quickly with hopes of playing Thursday night against New England.

Ty Law headed straight for the cold tub when he got to the New York Jets' training facility Wednesday morning. The 34-year-old cornerback was still feeling the effects of his first practice with his new teammates. "Just to be out there on the field with the guys and running around and they throw you right in there, it's really a test to see if you're an old man or not," Law said with a laugh.
