Sabres Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Lindy Ruff's demands and threats seem to be having a pronounced effect on his team. Since throwing his club—and specifically centers Derek Roy and Jochen Hecht—under the bus following an uninspired loss to Washington at home on Tuesday, Ruff has seen the Sabres play two strong games in wins over Toronto on Thursday and Boston on Saturday afternoon.
The win against the surging Bruins was particularly impressive and showed the Sabres just what they need to do in order to beat a top-level team. Buffalo displayed a tenacious work ethic and paid attention to details against a team that hadn't lost at home in 14 games. "We had a lot of guys locked in," Ruff said. Ruff has already taken some ice time away from Hecht and won't be afraid to do the same to...

Ellis scores a pair as Sabres beat Bruins (AP)

A little-known player and few big misses put an end to Boston's longest winning streak in nearly 36 years. Recent call-up Matt Ellis scored his second and third goals of the season to lead the Buffalo Sabres to a 4-2 win over Boston on Saturday, snapping the Bruins' 10-game winning streak and handing them their first home loss since late October.

Crosby and Malkin, teammates and linemates with the defending East champion Pittsburgh Penguins, both broke the record for the most votes and claimed...

Sabres beat Maple Leafs 4-1 (AP)Jason Pominville and Derek Roy got the message. Two days after being called out by coach Lindy Ruff, the linemates scored two goals apiece in the Buffalo Sabres' 4-1 victory over Toronto on Thursday night. Ruff was upset after Buffalo lost to visiting Washington on Tuesday, saying after that game that "if Jochen Hecht and Derek Roy and those kinds of guys aren't our best players, (we) don't have...

Kotalik, Stafford lift Buffalo (AP)

Despite snapping a three-game winless streak, the Buffalo Sabres aren't taking any solace from gaining two points the hard way. Ales Kotalik and Drew Stafford scored shootout goals, and Ryan Miller stopped both of New York's attempts in Buffalo's 4-3 victory over the Islanders on Saturday night. The Sabres, though, squandered a late third-period lead, and the Islanders tied it with a pair of goals...
