The Oilers on Tuesday righted a ship that had been taking on serious water.
After three straight losses, each one worse than the one before it, the Oilers appeared to be in serious trouble. They were lifeless in Monday's 4-0 loss to Detroit, and there were concerns that the coaching staff had been tuned out.
But the Oilers rebounded nicely against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, erupting for their largest goal output of the season in a 7-2 win.
"It's just a good feeling to come out of here with a win in pretty desperate times," said head coach Craig MacTavish. "We haven't won a game like that this year. In his second start in two days, rookie Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers made 40 saves through overtime and then went 3-for-3 in the shootout to lift the Oilers to a 3-2 victory over the Rangers on Monday night.
