Their shootout loss to the Rangers on Monday represented the lone point they've picked up in their last five games, a stretch that has secured their spot in the Northeast Division basement.

Adding injury to the insult is that two of their most rugged forwards—right wing Chris Neil and center Mike Fisher—suffered leg injuries that were to be diagnosed upon the team's return home.

Jon Sim had a goal and assist, Joey MacDonald stopped 38 shots and the Islanders beat the Ottawa Senators for the second straight game, 3-2 on Saturday night. "We're not the only team in the league that has blown a third-period lead," Islanders coach Scott Gordon said.
