Sharks Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
It's not so much a New Year's resolution, yet coach Todd McLellan definitely sent a message to his team as the calendar turned from December to January.
"What you do in January that helps you win April and May, and that was my message to the players," McLellan told the San Jose Mercury News.
Because of the Sharks' gaudy 28-4-5 record during the 2008 portion of the 2008-'09 schedule, the Sharks are going to catch the attention of every opponent the rest of the way. McLellan is well aware of that, and he is trying to warn his troops that because the opponents will try to take their game up a notch, the Sharks must respond in kind.
"There's no surprises. We're going to see the other team's best game," he told the paper.

Marleau leads Sharks' early barrage in 5-0 win (AP)
