Blues' defenseman Johnson has knee surgery (AP)St. Louis Blues defenseman Erik Johnson, out for the season after injuring his knee during a preseason team golf outing in September, had surgery to repair a damaged ligament. Johnson, the first overall pick of the 2006 draft, is expected to be ready for training camp next season. He tore two ligaments when his foot got stuck in a golf cart.

The Blues suffered another major injury in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to Montreal when McDonald slid into the boards awkwardly and fractured his left leg. The team says McDonald is out indefinitely, which will cost them their leading scorer.
McDonald was left off the NHL All-Star ballot recently, despite leading the Blues with 18 points (six goals, 12 assists).
"Andy has been, to this point in the season, our best player," coach Andy Murray said. "Nobody feels sorry for us. (But) we battled one of the better teams in the league right to the end with the lineup we had (Sunday). So, give our guys credit, we'll find a way."
