The NHL has suspended Flyers forward Dan Carcillo four games for his role in a fight that earned him a whopping 19 penalty minutes and a game misconduct. Carcillo landed a big punch on Washington's Matt Bradley as he dropped his gloves Saturday night. Following Carcillo's punch, Bradley fell to the ice and left the game.

With Peter Laviolette making his Flyers debut behind the bench, Tomas Fleischmann and Mike Green scored two goals apiece, and Nicklas Backstrom added a goal and four assists, leading the streaking Washington Capitals to a 8-2 win over Philadelphia on Saturday night.

The Boston Bruins and their fans showed they didn't miss Phil Kessel. Marc Savard scored three goals and the raucous crowd helped ruin the return of Boston's top goal scorer last season, cheering the Bruins to a 7-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night. The crowd booed Kessel during introductions and nearly every time he touched the puck.

Miikka Kiprusoff low-keyed his kick save. The rest of his teammates were a little more jubilant. Daymond Langkow scored early in the third period, and the Calgary Flames held on to beat the San Jose Sharks 2-1 in a matchup of division leaders on Saturday night. Olli Jokinen also scored for the Flames, who have earned at least one point in 13 of 15 road games this season.

The Devils beat the Red Wings 4-3 in a shootout.

The New Jersey Devils honored their 1995 team that swept Detroit to claim the franchise's first Stanley Cup championship. Then they went out and beat the Red Wings again. After blowing a two-goal lead Saturday night, the Devils recovered to win 4-3 in a shootout on Patrik Elias' decisive goal.
